Globalisation has led to the loss of cultural identity in Britain Essay

globalization has led to the loss of cultural identity in Britain. Discuss - Essay ExampleThe first effect of globalisation was experienced by the pack that migrated to Britain. In the early years of 1950s and 1960s, galore(postnominal) immigrants found their way into the British territory. Many people from the West Indies and Asia migrated to Britain and established their lives and thence culture. Many people were attracted to the job vacancies available and were interested in filling them. As such, they made Britain their permanent residence. However, this would affect the culture of the country. Since many people recollect it difficult to change their culture, they stick to their culture. Similarly, they have their strong beliefs and experiences that ar mixed in the society. In the light of this statement, Britain is now considered a multicultural state, evident from the animated mixed cultures. With such situations, it is not easy to identify Britain with a single culture. Identifying the country with a single culture would be impossible, as other cultures would be suppressed. Globalisation has led to sprouting of behaviours that are not acceptable by many cultures. For example, there has been a rise of gay marriages and gay relationships. Many people are not at ease with the issue of gay relationships. The core origin of such behaviours and relationships is believed to be globalisation. When people move from one place to another, they dilute their behaviour to other parts of the country. Therefore, when gay immigrants settle into the country, they are likely to influence the other people that reside closely. In todays world, it is about impossible to contain gay relationships. The behaviour is widespread and many people are engaging in such relationships. This has affected the culture in a negative way, since it does not fully accept such. Apparently, the most outstanding opposition to such behaviour are religious entities. They state that it is un acceptable behaviour to the church fraternity. In the early centuries, culture was defined by the foods and delicacies that are savoured by the nation. Many people were connected to their staple foods as they connected them to their culture. However, with the aspect of immigration, many cultures were interconnected. This brought change in the foods that are savoured by the nation. Many residents had to adapt to the new culture as they adopted consumption of other foods brought by immigrants. This has affected the British culture, as they are not openly identified by their foods. This is a cultural experience that many people would have not thought of, or even practiced were it not for globalisation. For example, in the ancient times, people were vigil on the foods that were consumed. They identified healthy foods that had little or no effects on the human life (Tisdell and Sen 200432). However, with the vary in the cultures and consumption of other foods, many people are feeling t he pinch. For example, most people in the country are relying on junk foods. These foods are savoured in the country due to a mixture of cultures. Were it not for globalisation, majority of the population would not savour some of these foods. Globalisation has had an effect on the lifestyle of people. Many cultures are identified by the music, way of life and social activities. However, this has changed due to globalisation. With the interdependence between countries, there is exchange of music and other

In the case of United States v. Escalante, 239 F.3d 678 (5th Cir. 2001) the address said, that although the traffic stop, even if pretextual, does not violate the Fourth Amendment if any officer making the stop has probable cause to believe that a t raffic violation has occurred. (Legal Enforcement Legal Review, 2001). By having these traffic stops in the first place is a contentious incommode based on the fact perhaps not all traffic stops are based on probable cause, but, rather on racial profiling. The searches of vehicles after the fact should be ruled constitutionally invalid and judgement in favor of the plaintiff. But, many officers use the qualified immunity defense to value their interests and their integrity by abstaining from legal subjectivity in pending litigation. The purpose of many officials using the Qualified Immunity defense is fully justified in cases where police stop an average, law-abiding citizen based on their racial profile or for what the police identify as probable cause. When the police use excessive force in further detaining an individual that is not under suspicion of any activity, this is clearly a violation of their Fourth Amendment rights. Strengths and Weaknesses of Utilitarianism Essay Example for Free

Strengths and Weaknesses of Utilitarianism EssayThe prominant criticism of Utilitarianism is that it is extremely tight to predict the results of an action. The outcomes of all situations be hard to predict, so how can we possibly apply the control of the greatest happiness for the greatest number if we do not know who will benefit near? It is also difficult to decide whether an outcome is virtuously good or bad. People gestate contrasting opinions on what they think is right or wrong and it depends on the individual who is making the decision. This stirs problems because a topic that is good to one person may at the same time be bad to another, One mans happiness is another mans pain. Without an absolute definition of happiness, it is hard to arrive at a right decision. Another problem of Utilitarianism is the concept of time. Is long term or short term pleasure more important? For example, when deciding whether to take an ecstasy tablet at a club. Taking the pill may g ive you a lot of short-term pleasure, but in the long term, it may cause more harm than good. Not taking the tablet would involve fewer risks and would avoid potential pain. Even here, you cannot predict the results of your decision, as there is no way of telling the effect the ecstasy has on you until you have tried it.Not only is it hard to tell what will be the consequences in the long carry, but it is hard to define the time period of the long run to begin with. A particular problem with Utilitarianism stands out to me that altogether immoral acts can be justified if they are seen to benefit the greatest number of people. For example In the early 1800s in South America, slave comprehend overlyk place because it was seen to produce the most amount of good for the most amount of people. Slavery was an efficient way for Southern farmers to produce goods at a cut-price price and these goods brought a lot of pleasure to a great amount of people. On the other hand, the slaves suf fered terribly and had to endure vast amounts of pain and torture. Nevertheless the most amount of good was produced and enjoyed by the most amount of people through slavery therefore satisfying the principle of Utility. This example clearly shows how utilitarianism can cause injustice and the denial of human rights. The theory disregards motivation and goodwill, says that the majority is always right and Does not protect the innocent minorities. John Rawls agreed with this weakness. He argued that utilitarianism is too impersonal. In its pursuit of the greater good, it disregards the rights of individuals. He said that Utilitarianism could therefore be used to promote a dictatorship, in which decisions were made to over-ride the interests of the individual in opt of the greater good of society. Despite all the arguments against Utilitarianism, there are some valid points for the theory. It is widely accepted throughout the world as many countries run by means of democracy. Our poli tical leaders are elected through the ballot box, the majority overriding the minority. This however does not automatically mean that they are the most suited people for the job.Utilitarianism also allows people to contemplate the situation before making the decision. This time prevents people from making hasty, unethical decisions, as it encourages horizon before action. The aim of the theory is to produce happiness and pleasure. These are two desirable things as Utilitarianism says that pleasure is the sole good and pain is the sole evil, character has placed mankind under the governance of two sovereign masters-pleasure and pain. Supporters of the theory would argue that promoting pleasure must be a good thing as most people see pleasure as desirable over pain. They would also say that the intention of Utilitarianism was not to create immorality but to disport to maximum number of people possible Surely it is better for a hundred people to be happy than five? Another good verb al expression of Utilitarianism is that it has one simple absolute, which can be applied to all situations with a positive outcome. In times of difficulty, it eases people out of difficult situations, as they cannot be blamed for making the wrong decision if they claim it was for the happiness of the majority.Any prejudices the decision maker may hold are eradicated in Utilitarianism, as they have to stick to the main rule. There is also some flexibility for emotions in moral decision making according to Rule Utilitarianism. This part of the theory allows detect for the rules that are created to better our society although even these rules do not have to be kept all the time if you are a weak utilitarian which poses problems over what the theory really is. Utilitarianism is a theory that Christians can relate to.Mill brought it close-set(prenominal) to the Christian church by introducing Rule Utilitarianism. This would be closer to the principals Jesus lived by. For example, it wa s against the Jewish law to work on the Sabbath but when people were in need, Jesus bent this rule and healed them. The largest connection Christianity has with Utilitarianism is the death of Jesus. He was crucified and died for the sins of mankind, sacrificing himself for the majority. However, Utilitarianism does accept evil where Christianity most certainly does not.

Project On NCO Essay Example for Free

Project On NCO EssayINTRODUCTION I commence operateed for the army as an NCO for the last 13 years and I comport always tried to be accountable as much as I can, to live up to the standards of this base and motorcarry come out of the clo castigate all my responsibilities abiding in the set out rules and regulations. As an Non Commissi unity(a)d Officer I must be empathetic and positive. And, as always, must set the standard for integrity and character. However in the recent past I found myself on the wrong side of the matter when all over speeded in the base. rise The script uses a global array to filter, consolidate, and sort the timing misdemeanors. The contents of the global array ar then presented in a report of coalesced timing violations. There is illustrated a block of an exemplary global array. The global array includes a plurality of records. Each record includes fields for warning type, age of event, data events, setup time limit, hold time limit, amount of violation, time of last warning.Because experience teaches us that there are some people that wholly learn by stripping them of their funds. There are another(prenominal)s that the mere threat of that loss lead keep them on the straight and narrow for 20years to come. And the incumbents that I get laid that are the orotundgest bene occurrenceors of professional courtesy deliberately disobey laws because they believe they can do so with impunity. A warning isnt going to do it for them. An example is a Passaic County Sheriffs Office incident. The Virginia deputy stopped them, advised them of the applicable law, asked them to obey it, and did not cite anyone. Everyone agreed that he was polite in doing this. The guys pulled back onto the highway resumed doing scarcely what they were doing before, and then tried to get the deputy fired when they got home.I hereby submit my Post Violation Report due to my louse up. Over speeding is the primary(prenominal) cause of so many accid ents in the army base and other expanses in the United States of America. I strongly believe that I was not supposed(a) to go against the ethics, rules and regulations in the base. As an NCO am supposed to set out a soundly example to all other acres men. However in every day world, we sometimes knock ourselves in such situations. In most cases it is not due to our own will still we accidentally find ourselves between a rock and a hard place and therefore try to get ourselves out of it.This being the first time I founder done this, I know I pay off not done such a big criminal activity. I never said that I dont commit traffic violations. I think Im pretty careful, but I have missed stop signs, exceeded the speed limit, failed to signal a turn, etc., like everyone else. So far, either I have been lucky or my violations were not so flagrant that they merited a stop. only after pushing a patrol car near for 13 years, I have to say that I cant remember even once forgetting whi ch car I was in, the patrol car or my face-to-face car.And even in the patrol car, if I committed an intentional traffic violation, it was to accomplish some job-related task, like get turned around to chase a violator or in the field and have to ignore some rules to in order to work the target. It has never occurred to me to try this in the field of work nor in my private missions without a good reason. If your situational awareness is so poor that you cant remember whether youre on or off duty or which car youre driving, your problems go way past an officers discretionary decision making, and your head is definitely in the clouds. I think its interesting that you claim that you would have no problem with ignoring a lawful direct order from a superior officer, but you would fear retaliation and would decline to take enforcement action on a clear violation of the law if an officer was involved. If this is truly the situation youre working in, your agency is in serious trouble.Maybe so, but so what? You never had a brain fart, or were on automatic pilot, you unfortunately cant control all this.I admit however that on several(prenominal) occasion, when driving off duty in my private vehicle I have driven in the midnight hours because I forgot I was driving in my personal vehicle. Missed to obey the signs and instructions to the drivers.I am not advocating for over speeding in any way, and never have advocated for the same, makeup every Amy officer you stop. That is just as much an abuse of discretion as not writing anyone who is an NCO.RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN NON COMMISSIONED OFFICERThe duties and responsibilities of NCOs has remained the same for quite a longtime. As an NCO I should be amenable for the hobby Should know where your soldiers live and how to contact themUse the unit to accomplish, as many missions as possible and at all cost never give out volunteer troops.Managing a specific launch vehicleSystem administration with decision-making authority.Tr aining new Operations Safety TechniciansIn fact sometimes it has never been a prudent thing to do some of the followingSending food back to the kitchen.Telling your significant other you have had better.Commenting in front of your boss I can find a better job tomorrowDating a co-worker/boss/bosses daughter. At one point I found myself over speeding just because I could not let it go or because I needed to hit some deadlines.Because most of the violations were not all that grave and my impression was that I had a wake-up call from the stop itself. Was I driving safely? Mission accomplished. But the guy that clearly knows what I was doing got me stopped, and who will resume that same activity as soon as were done because we thought he had the right to do that, if not a ride in the back seat.As I qualified many times prior, anyone can talk themselves into a ticket. Just because you are military or physician does not mean I dont hang on your driving license. I never said that every one of these members gets a pass, I have written military, physicians and other army officers. Here are the facts, I would like to assume that a member of our armed forces is a reasonably decent individualist service that few would undertake and regardless of station they deserve my respect and appreciation.Discression is a funny thing. Where you might exercise it, I might not. Where you think me lax, I might think you unnecessarily harsh. Though you are correct in the spirit of your argument, its execution is not so easy. If this were easy, anyone could do it. I made discretionary decisions every day, and I dont think I was harsh with them. The difference is that I used criteria that were relevant to the situation and that I could prevail to anyone that questioned why I had done what I did. You want to bring in criteria of your own choosing that are based on your fears and biases. Overcoming fear and bias is something every one of us has to do in order to be an army officer. , or you get out.I could have shined on any or all of these people, and no one would have known except them and me. As for is Fort Jackson SC pinpoint that I didnt know was a cop until after I had issued the ticket, he probably deserved a warning, as he was an out-of-towner who was unfamiliar with the intersection and turned left in violation of a posted sign. The cop part of it had nothing to do with whether it was a bad decision or not.One of the sergeants tried to condemn me within the department for comforting another ground officer and that upset me very much. One more thing say youre driving around tomorrow in your private vehicle running errands, and you run a red light. No intent to break the law you just got distracted for a second, make decision without influence, and accept whatever consequences follow your conduct. whatever examples where premeditation discretion, in and of itself, doesnt make sense there comes a time when you have to attend to an emergency, and here is where our perspectives diverge. All of those applications of premeditated discretion to use your verge are enacted pursuant to due process of law and legislation, formulated in compliance with the set out rules and regulations in the base, and is promulgated to the citizenry. As noted above, a large number of substantially contemporaneous timing violations in a crabby module can be the result of a single cause. The violation time is the difference between the given speed limit and speed you have exceeded, and is calculated from the limits (setup or hold) and the difference in time between the clock and data events. The first warnings are used by the script to report consolidated information regarding multiple timing violations that occur at a particular module.ACCOUNTABILITY OF AN NCOSenior leaders, must afford these to junior troopsResponsibility, to instill a sense of worth, pride and accomplishmentAuthority, to effectively carry out tasks they are responsible forAccountability, for action s right and wrong andAssistance, to help junior troops learn from leaders experience and expertise.Such actions by leaders are vital to evolution junior troops who will be tomorrows leaders. Senior leaders must coach, teach, mentor and train subordinates to effectively replace the leaders in the future.EXPECTATIONSLooking at what American military officers expect from their senior NCOs and vice versa. Officers in the U.S. military expect their senior enlisted leaders to be tactically, technically and strategically proficient to be professional beyond reproach and to be the eyes and the ears for the commander the voice of service members and their families.Senior NCO leaders should expect several things from their commanders and carry out the followingTrust and accord respect.Direct and open communication. No one has permission to stop me from seeing General PaceThese are not a right, but must be earned through consistently professional and proficient actions.Freedom of movement th roughout the command. You need to tell that commander, Sir, I need to have freedom of moment throughout my area of responsibility. The only way I can advise you is if I see it,Senior U.S. NCOs are empowered in many ways. However, empowerment is not about having power per se, but about influencing junior troops to do the right things. Infact power is not an issue the big concern is how leaders exercise influence over their subordinates.Maintaining good orderA person assigned as an NCO should be responsible for a outlined common area within the barracks, e.g., hallways, laundry rooms, dayrooms etc., in writing and post this NCOs name.Conspicuously in the vicinity of the assigned area.
